ReSpark Acquires ScrapRight

The scrap industry runs on experience.

It’s an industry built on relationships, knowledge earned over decades, and an understanding of what actually happens every day in the yard, at the scale, on the road, and in the back office.

For more than 20 years, ScrapRight has been part of that industry, building scrap yard management software around the realities of how recyclers work.

Today, ScrapRight is joining ReSpark.

The acquisition brings roughly 350 customers across more than 500 locations into ReSpark and represents another significant step toward our goal: building the most complete technology platform for the metal recycling industry.

Building on more than 20 years in scrap

ScrapRight was founded by industry veteran Shon Duty with a focus on serving recyclers with practical technology grounded in firsthand industry knowledge.

Over the past two decades, the company has grown alongside its customers, building workflows around the day-to-day needs of scrap operations and earning the trust of recyclers across the industry.

That experience matters.

The workflows, relationships, and industry knowledge built into ScrapRight over the last 20 years now become part of the same mission ReSpark is pursuing: creating one connected system for how a recycling business actually runs.

“ScrapRight has built something special because Shon and his team understand this industry at a fundamental level. They know the customers, they know the work, and they’ve earned a tremendous amount of trust along the way.”

— Gordon Driscoll, CEO of ReSpark

And the people behind that experience aren’t disappearing. The ScrapRight team, including members of the Duty family, is joining ReSpark to support customers through the transition.

Built around the people in this industry

For Shon, ScrapRight has always been about more than software.

It has been about serving the people who make up the scrap industry and earning the trust of customers who rely on the platform to run an important part of their businesses.

“For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of being part of the scrap industry, and ScrapRight has always been about serving the people in it. Our customers have trusted us with an important part of their businesses, and that is something I have never taken lightly.”

— Shon Duty, Founder of ScrapRight

That same customer-first approach will remain important as ScrapRight becomes part of ReSpark.

As Shon shared, getting to know the ReSpark team made it clear that both companies were looking toward the same future for ScrapRight and its customers.

More resources behind the technology recyclers rely on

For existing ScrapRight customers, this is about building on what’s already there.

Customers can continue using the ScrapRight platform they rely on today, with familiar faces continuing to support them.

At the same time, becoming part of ReSpark creates an opportunity to put more resources behind the technology, support, and product development that will serve those customers in the years ahead.

As Gordon put it:

“Bringing our teams together gives us an opportunity to build on that foundation while putting even more resources behind the products and people our customers rely on.”

— Gordon Driscoll, CEO of ReSpark

ReSpark is investing deeply in technology purpose-built for metal recycling, including automation and AI designed around the actual workflows of the industry.

Bringing ScrapRight into ReSpark adds another two decades of experience to that effort.

One platform for the entire recycling operation

ReSpark was formed in April 2026 through the combination of GreenSpark and ReMatter, bringing together two companies working toward a similar vision for modern recycling technology.

In July, UptimePM joined ReSpark and became ReSparkPM, expanding the platform into equipment maintenance and management.

Now, ScrapRight brings another established team, customer community, and deep base of scrap industry knowledge into ReSpark.

Together, ReSpark serves roughly 1,000 customers across more than 1,700 locations globally.

But the goal isn’t simply to get bigger.

It’s to build a more complete system.

Today, ReSpark spans buying, selling, and pricing material; yard operations; logistics and dispatch; finance and accounting; compliance; equipment maintenance; reporting; and AI-powered automation.

The goal is to connect those pieces so information can move with the material and recyclers can spend less time managing disconnected systems, repetitive processes, and manual work.

From the scale house to the back office, we’re building technology around how recycling businesses actually operate.

Built specifically for scrap

The scrap industry doesn’t need generic software retrofitted to work for recycling.

It needs technology built by people who understand the industry, its workflows, its complexity, and where it’s going next.

That’s what makes bringing ScrapRight and ReSpark together exciting.

ScrapRight brings more than 20 years of experience serving recyclers. ReSpark brings a growing platform, team, and investment in modern technology across the recycling operation.

Together, we have an opportunity to build on what’s already working while continuing to push the industry forward.

And for Shon, that future was an important part of choosing ReSpark:

“As I got to know the ReSpark team, it became clear that they are building toward the future I wanted for ScrapRight and for our customers. I am proud of what we built, and I am confident ScrapRight’s customers are in good hands.”

— Shon Duty, Founder of ScrapRight
